The Versatile Blogger Award

Picture1

Thank you so much to Sumaya at Sue’s Reading Corner for nominating me for this! I love tags, and this is very sweet of you!

The Rules:

  • Display the award on your blog.
  • Thank the blogger that nominated you and provide a link to their blog.
  • Share 7 facts about yourself.
  • Nominate 10 bloggers for the award and provide links to their blog.

7 Random Facts

1. My favorite animal is a dolphin. I got to swim with dolphins a few years ago and it was probably one of the best moments of my life. Friends sometimes give me little dolphin knick knacks because “I know you like dolphins,” and I love every one of them (friends and knick knacks).

2. My favorite kind of food is Asian food.  HonestlyI don’t need any other kind of food. But I’m also happy with just a plain bowl of white rice. White rice is one of my favorite foods ever.

3. I love boybands. I used to be OBSESSED with One Direction just a few years ago. And the Jonas Brothers when I was a teenager. Those times were fun and dear to me and I still carry a little 1D keychain on my car keys with no shame.

4. I have synesthesia. It’s not super uncommon, I think? It means that my senses are intermingled, particularly when it comes to associating things with color. Like, when I listen to music, the music has colors, texture, shapes, sometimes a flavor or smell. Every letter and word have colors (i.e. Gansey from the Raven Cycle = light green. So I tend to picture him wearing light green shirts a lot). Strong flavors have color. When I’m nervous I might feel purple. A headache usually feels blue. I didn’t realize this wasn’t a “normal” way of perceiving things until I was 16 and made some offhand comment to my mom that the letter K was pink, and she was like …..uh, what?

5. The first time I tried coffee I was 22 and had been hired as a barista, so I felt I should try what I was making all the time. I’m still not a huge fan, but I do like the occasional caramel latte. Tea is more my scene (particularly bubble tea).

6. I’m super shy. When I first started here I was terrified of commenting on other people’s blogs. When I was a teenager I would go full school days without speaking a word to anyone! I’ve overcome a lot of it as I’ve gotten older and it’s not nearly as bad, but I’ll always be one of the quiet ones. BUT when I do get to know someone, I literally don’t shut up.

7. I used to hide novels in my high school textbooks and read them during class. I probably would have gotten better math grades if not for this. Alas.

I nominate:

Birdie @ Birdie Bookworm

Shanah @ Bionic Book Worm

Danielle @ Books, Vertigo, and Tea

Holly @ Nut Free Nerd

Kate @ Reading through Infinity

Rachel @ pace, amore, libri

Jordyn @ Jordz The Bibliophile

Lucinda @ Lucinda is Reading…

Okay I’m gonna do 8 tags because like I said I’m shy. Feel free to ignore if you’d rather pass! And sorry if you’ve already been tagged or done it before! Though I suppose you could always do it again if you like. Most people have more than seven facts about themselves, probably 😉

  1. Thanks for nominating me!!! We have so many of these in common – my favorite cuisine is Vietnamese, I had a total One Direction phase (I actually saw them in concert a few years ago and was one of the oldest non-chaperones there at 23 but it was amazing), I was REALLY shy growing up, and tea is much superior to coffee. I’m jealous you got to swim with dolphins, that sounds amazing!

    • I also went and saw them when I was 23! I also saw them the year before, lol. I don’t think I’ll ever be in one another with so much screaming, it was fantastic. I’d love for them to come back one day, but I’m also enjoying all the solo stuff. And I love Vietnamese cuisine, this is making me want to go get it right now. And no problem! It’s fun getting to talk about things that aren’t books!

      • I almost went the year before as well! I had tickets to their show in Boston but couldn’t go at the last minute. But I was glad I got to go when I did, even though it was Zayn-less. Still a lot of fun. And so much screaming!!!!

I wholeheartedly support you in your decision to get Vietnamese food. The only thing that can fix a Tuesday is some pho.

      • Boston is where I went! To be honest I enjoyed their Zayn-less show more…it felt like they were having more fun on stage. But both were great! I’d definitely go again if they ever get back together and make more music lol…I don’t care how old I am. And they’re all in their 20’s!

      • Yay New England!! I ended up seeing them in Montreal the following year (so I got to witness Harry’s ridiculous monologue about poutine, that was fun) but I wish I could have gone to the Boston show too. But I actually get the impression that OTRA was the better tour, so I think it all worked out! And Four is my favorite of their albums, so I was happy with the setlist.

        Important question: who’s your fave?

      • I’d basically die for Harry Styles soooo yeah. Harry’s my fave. I have a really soft spot for Niall though and I love Louis. But I’m a Harry girl. And my favorite album is Made in the A.M., I was actually listening to it in the car today. Four is a very close second and hearing those songs in person was amazing!! Who is your favorite??

      • Ahhhh all of them (I don’t really care about Liam as much though, sorry Liam) but I’m definitely a Louis girl. Harry is also amazing though.

MITM took a while to grow on me but I love it now! Haha all this talk is making me want to listen to 1D on my drive home!

      • Hahaha I also have never really cared for Liam…I don’t hate him, but I don’t love him. I’ve always found Louis hilarious though! Just the other day I found myself rewatching the carpool karaoke and dodgeball skit they did with James Corden and it reminded me of how much fun they are. And I will always recommend listening to 1D on a ride home!

  2. Thanks so much for the nomination. My life is chaos at the moment so I hope that I can get to it soon. And I totally hid books inside of text books. I also sat at the back of the class and was the shortest person at the school so almost no teachers bothered me lol
