The Sunshine Blogger Award

sunshine

Thanks Rachel at pace, amore, libri for nominating me for this award and for the awesome questions! These were some really fun ones to answer. Definitely go check out her blog, she’s great!!

The Rules

  1. Thank the person who nominated you and link back to their blog.
  2. Answer the 11 questions your nominator has given you.
  3. Nominate 11 other people and give them 11 new questions to answer.
  4. List the rules and display the award

1. What’s the last movie you saw and what did you think of it?

I saw Dunkirk two weekends ago and I really enjoyed it! It took me a little bit to get into it, but by the end things were getting intense and I was Very Stressed and it was great. Also…….I loved watching my beloved Harry Styles on screen.

2. Do you have any weird or random talents?

I suppose I’m strangely good at guessing the time by the position of the sun and shadows. There have been times I’ve guessed it down to the minute. Other than that, nothing really comes to mind.

3. What’s your favorite song at the moment?

I’m one of those annoying people who like to listen to the same song over and over and over back to back, and this is currently it. I listened to it many times on my drive to work today. Again, my dearest Harry ❤

4. What time of day do you do most of your blogging?

I don’t really have a specific time…whenever I get the chance and am in the mood, really. Usually, though, in the morning or later in the evening is when I get the chance to do most of it, though not every day.

5. What’s your favorite museum that you’ve been to?

I love the British Museum in London. I’ve been there 3 times and two of those times I stayed at a hostel across the street, so the whole area is familiar to me. Two of the times I visited it I explored it with some best friends of mine, and the third time I went there with my dad, who came all the way to England to visit me when I was studying abroad, and it was just a really special and great day. ALSO it’s a great museum, all that sentimental stuff aside. It’s got a great variety of historical things, ancient to present, and it’s really nice inside.

6. When’s the last time you went to a wedding?

A few weeks ago I went to a wedding of two friends were actually already married.  They got married three years ago in Nicaragua (where they met) in a courthouse, but they never had a wedding or celebrated their marriage, so they had one here to celebrate with the bride’s family (the groom’s family live in Nicaragua) and their friends here! It was a sweet little ceremony at a YMCA pavilion on a really pretty day. I love formal occasions that aren’t too formal, and it was very them, which was the best part.

7. Do you have a celebrity doppelganger?

There aren’t any celebrities I can think of, but once my friend posted a vlog with me in it on YouTube and someone commented saying I look like this voice actor, Andrea Libman. I see it if I put these two pictures of us in green jackets side by side (I’m on the left, and it’s definitely the hair). You can tell no one has ever said I looked like anyone else because I remember this really obscure comparison, lol.

8. If you were a cat, what color cat would you be?  (Very important question.)

Probably a stripey brown one. Maybe with some white spots.

9. Do you have a favorite publisher or publisher imprint?

Maybe….Penguin? Not too sure. I should probably pay more attention to the publishers of the books I read.

10. Have you ever dressed up like a fictional character?  (Bonus points for photo evidence.)

374066_10150375580199227_100064213_nOKAY so when I was a teenager two of my friends and I wrote this massive 1,600+ page story about these teenagers who traveled all around the world and got into all sorts of crazy situations (one chapter they’re unlocking the dark secrets of their past and the next they’re literally getting kidnapped at a Jonas Brothers concert DON’T ASK we were 13-16 years old okay (and it was great). Put this in your receipts for whenever I start to get pretentious about books), and so one Halloween in high school we dressed up as our three main characters (each created by one of us), and I guess I didn’t have enough props or something because I also dressed half as Harry Potter. Two birds with one stone, THOUGH this costume super basic lol.

The blue shirt and camera represent my dearest OC Ben, and the scarf and glasses are Harry, obviously. Not very elaborate, but I’m not a huge costume person unfortunately. But to be fair, Ben was not a fancy-looking guy, so there was only so much I could do with him. Hence, the addition of Harry.

11. What’s your favorite thing about your city (or state, or country)?

It’s just…what I’ve always known, I guess, so it’s just…home? It has that feeling no where else does? I feel like this is a cop out answer, but living in Massachusetts I love the four seasons, and I love the history, and I love that I don’t have to drive far to be in an urban area, a rural area, foresty nature, or the sea. It’s just familiar ❤

I tag:

Nika / Noriko / coffeelovingbookoholic / hannahpotamus / wordswithbri / TheCleverReader / Em / Ryann the Reader / Traveling Across Pages / Justine / Julia / You if you’d like to!

No pressure to do this!!

My questions:

  1. What would you do if you were invisible for a day?
  2. What was your favorite movie as a child?
  3. What is your favorite kind of blog post to write?
  4. If you could commission any author to write a book for you, who would you choose?
  5. Is there a talent or skill you don’t have, but which you did?
  6. What is your least favorite book?
  7. Any random subject/fact/phenomenon that fascinate you?
  8. What was your favorite birthday?
  9. What kind of music do you like to listen to?
  10. What book have you ALWAYS meant to get to, but haven’t yet?
  11. If you could relive a day in your past, what would it be?

As always, have a great weekend, guys!

  2. Oh my god I love all your answers. The British Museum is so great!!!! I’m more of a National Gallery kind of girl but they are both so good. London is so great for museums. And I love the story about you and your friends writing that story because my best friend and I in high school did a very similar thing!!!! We never made it to 1600 pages though, damn.

Aaaand now I’m sad about A Little Life listening to that song!!!

    • I do love National Galleries! Anything old and art is my kind of thing.

As for our 16k page story, we wrote that thing over the course of 4 years and it could have probably gone on forever if we didn’t kind of just phase out of it. But it was fun while it lasted, we were so obsessed with our own characters. lol. What was your story about??

Ahh I know!! I can’t not think of JB now when I listen to that song. But somehow it makes it even better.

      • It was about our fictional counterparts having adventures with various celebrities and fictional characters (I think Harry Potter and Zachary Quinto both featured heavily??) and we had to destroy Horcruxes or something…… I think that’s it, I remember us having to destroy a Horcrux at an Incubus concert (our favorite band in high school) and also in Victoria’s Secret at one point???? Oh my god I need to dig this thing up. Basically it was REALLY ABSURD and for some odd reason we called it “Thermopylae.” I’m cracking up thinking about this. I am so lucky that I had a friend who was just as weird as I was in high school.

      • AHAHAHA OMG BUT LIKE that is exactly what our story was!! Like we were in our own story and we were going on this world trip with these fictional guys who were basically our dream guys, and we befriended the Jonas Brothers and other bands we were into at the time, and James McAvoy was one of our character’s uncles, and we met actors from our favorite TV shows and movies (we had a chapter where we won like $5,000 dollars in the cash cab hahahah), and we faced down the Italian mafia and almost died from rattlesnake bites and getting kidnapped and gunfights, etc. My character’s backstory was literally Harry Potter’s (he was British), and his parents were killed by their best friend and just. It was too much but it was the greatest thing ever. This is so funny omg.

      • OH MY GOD I’m cracking up why are we the same person???? Like I literally love the cash cab ahahaha. I think our story was basically an elaborate excuse for us to daydream about meeting all of our favorite celebrities. I think Daniel Radcliffe was there too?? Like in addition to Harry Potter??? I’m trying to remember more specifics…. there was definitely a plane heist involving Meryl Streep at one point.

And THANK YOU I am very attached to Thermopylae. We were so ridiculous. What was yours called??

      • I KNOW OMG. I can’t believe this ahahahah. When we got out of the cash cab (in the midst of Times Square of course) the cast of our favorite TV show at the time (Ugly Betty) was just like, hanging out there and we got to meet them and they invited us to tour their set hahahahah. Honestly I would not be surprised if Dan Radcliffe made an appearance in ours as well. I love the heist with Meryl Streep though oh my gosh I’m laughing. One of our big plot points was this big conspiracy theory surrounding the Jonas Brothers and their evil father (who is probably a nice guy in real life omg) and he kidnapped us and somehow the head boss of the Italian mafia was involved because he was in love with one of our characters’ dead mother and things got deadly and one of us was literally SET ON FIRE and it was truly so wild. And then my friend wrote this epic courtroom chapter once they got caught and it was just so good.

Okay, so our main characters were these guys adopted from different parts of the world, and their adopted last name was Niroshima (their adopted dad was Japanese and we came up with that on the spot and went with it bc we knew nothing- we hadn’t even learned of Hiroshima and WWII or anything yet), and since it kind of started out as this fantastical romance (a house on our street was for sale and we were like- what if these super cute boys moved in and they were our soulmates??), we played off the word romance and called it “The Niroshimance.” Honestly it’s one of my favorite things about my teen years ahahah.

      • OH MY GOD KIDNAPPED BY THE JONAS BROTHERS’ FATHER INCREDIBLE. I’m cackling just thinking of how this entire conversation would sound to someone out of context. Amazing.

HAHHAA YOUR TITLE IS SO GOOD wow I love it. I can’t believe we have such a like…. specifically random thing in common from our teen years. Like are we just the two weirdest people alive or is this a THING that normal people do???

        Liked by 1 person

      • Hahahah, before I posted that reply I was like….finally my true weirdness has been exposed on here for all to see. BUT I KNOW, it made me wonder if these weird epic stories that star celebrities are more common than I thought?? My friends and I thought we were the only ones hahah.

  3. … Whoaaaaa – a 1600+ page story? Wow you tryin’ to be the next JK Rowling – lol. All jokes aside though, that’s super impressive darling, even if it was just for fun.

  4. EEEK thanks for tagging!! 😀

Ooooh, I’ve super interested in Dunkirk– I’ve watched a bunch of trailers and read SO MANY glowing reviews, plus the cast is ah-may-zing!! Also omg, how do you guess the time just using sun and shadows…? I’m in awe

(and I can totally relate with you about the song thing– whenever I find a song I really really like, I listen to it on repeat until I get sick of it)

    Liked by 1 person

    • You’re welcome!! I definitely recommend Dunkirk, esp if you like war stuff! Lol I have no idea how I do the sun thing, a lot of time I just guess randomly and it turns out right :O

Lol I listen to my music over and over TO THE DEATH. I have no problem with making a playlist of like 3 songs and listening to it for like 5 days straight. Glad to know I’m not the only one who can listen to a song over and over!

      • that is supremely cooool. I unfortunately can’t relate, I have no sense of director nor time whatsoever

also yep, I play my fave songs over and over and over again, to the point where I can say all the lyrics in my sleep 😛
