Guilty Reader Book Tag

Hadeer and Rachel did this tag recently and I thought it looked fun! And I just want to apologize to all you kind people who tag me and nominate me for things and then I veer off and do all these tags no one’s tagged me for. I swear I keep track of them all and have them in a list….maybe one day I’ll catch up… I always appreciate it, though ❤

Have you ever regifted a book  that you’ve been given?

Not that I recall. I’ve donated a book I’ve been given…I tried reading it and wanted to like it, but I just couldn’t do it, so hopefully it’s happier in hands of someone else. The person who gave it to me never needs to know…

Have you ever said you’ve read a book when you haven’t?

Nah. Even if I wanted to I’d be afraid they’d ask me about it and I’d get CAUGHT.

Have you ever borrowed a book and not returned it?

Ummmm well okay here’s a story. My friend really wanted me to read certain parts from a book, so she lent it to me, and I took it home and never read it. Now, when I visit her, we like to go thrifting together, especially for books, and often I’ll bring some books to donate with me. So one weekend I was going to visit her, and before I left I was picking out some books I didn’t want anymore and I saw the book she had lent me like, months and months before. So I stuck it in the bag with the intention of giving it back to her even though I hadn’t read it, because, well, by that point I wasn’t going to. But then I forgot I put it in there, and when we went to the thrift store I brought my bag of books to donate, and….I donated her book. I realized this later, but still haven’t told her. It wasn’t a book she loved, but still…..Jenny, if you’re reading this (which is quite possible), SORRY.

Have you ever read a series out of order?

ACK no, I’m such a stickler for reading things in order. I couldn’t even read Six of Crows without reading The Grisha Trilogy first.

Have you ever spoiled a book for someone?

Not that I can think of, and not without someone asking me to.

Have you ever doggy eared a book?

Maybe cheap used books?? I’m in the habit of using bookmarks anyway.

Have you ever told someone you don’t own a book when you do?

No. The only reason I can think of for doing this would be if someone wanted to borrow it from you and you don’t trust them with it…which…has occurred to me, but I’ve never done it, lol.

Have you ever told someone you haven’t read a book when you have?

Nope!

Have you ever skipped a chapter or a section of a book?

Stealing Hadeer’s answer- “Not skipped, but I will sometimes skim portions if a book is particularly dull and I’m close to finishing it.”

Have you ever bad mouthed a book you actually liked?

I don’t think so. I’ll be critical of books I like, but I won’t insult them. Maybe poke fun at them.

I feel like this is a seasoned tag that has seen many bloggers so I’m not going to tag anyone, but if you think it looks fun and you do it, ping me back because I’d love to see your answers!!

    • The thing is I don’t even remember what it was called or what it was about so I can’t even buy her a new copy!! I just know my friend wasn’t a huge fan of it and she just wanted me to read a few parts of it that she really liked, so I don’t think she’ll be heartbroken lol.

  1. Great post, Steph! I’m sorry about what happened with your friend’s book, it’s good that it wasn’t one of her favourites though! Also, I totally agree with you about regifting, I wish I knew more book lovers, so that I could gift them books I didn’t enjoy since tastes are so different, they could really come to love it.

    • Lol I’m sure she won’t be mad!! And yes it’s very difficult to regift books, especially since most of the books I donate are ones that I don’t like very much, and I don’t really want to give any books I dislike to anyone if I didn’t have a fun time with it myself. But that’s a good point about even if I may dislike a book it could be someone else’s perfect read!
