Reader Confessions Tag

I’ve been reading through some book tags and thought they looked fun! Kinda just nominated myself to do this… 😀

Have you ever damaged a book?

I’m a little paranoid about trying to keep my books as pristine as I can while I read them…but it’s hard not to. I drop them. They get bent in my bag. Humidity rumples the pages. Once, my brother accidentally kicked wet sand into my book while we were at the beach. I wet them with my tears. I try to convince myself I like a warn out, well read book, but I have a thing for brand new, crisp and shiny, hot-off-the-press books, and every time I so much as slightly bend a page it pains my heart just a little.

Have you ever damaged a borrowed book?

Not that I can think of!

How long does it take you to read a book?

Really depends on the book, how busy I am in life, etc. But usually it doesn’t take me very long! For a good book, it will take me just a few days. Takes me a little longer if it’s a really long or dense book. Takes me 18 million years if it’s a bad one (that I simply cannot bring myself to abandon).

Books you haven’t finished?

Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers is always the one to come to mind. I read The Hobbit and The Fellowship of The Ring, but at Two Towers my heart just…gave out. I found them rather dry and too dense (sorry LTR lovers!!).

Hyped/Popular books you didn’t like?

People RAVED about the book Sarah’s Key by Tatiana de Rosnay, but I read it and was like ??? this is terrible?? It’s written SO poorly and was such a flimsily constructed story, I was truly shocked at the acclaim it got and the fact that it maintains above a 4 star rating on Goodreads. I don’t normally give out one star reviews, but that got it. More recently, Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, but let’s not get into that.

Is there a book you wouldn’t tell anyone you’re reading?

Hmm, nothing I can think of!

How many books do you own?

Ummm. I have four bookshelves and I had to start stacking them elsewhere to make more room, so…that many.

Are you a fast reader or a slow one?

Fast, usually! Faster if I like the book, slower if I don’t.

Do you like to buddy read?

Yes! It’s SO MUCH FUN! Right now I’m reading The Raven Cycle with a friend and it’s so fun to have someone to obsess over it with, make predictions and analyze with.

Do you read better in your head, or out loud?

In my head. I like to read books aloud to people, though.

If you were only allowed to own one book, what would it be?

Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban. That book is the definition of comfort to me- its story, its cover, everything.

Hope that was semi-interesting 🙂 I tag YOU!

♥,
Steph
